Breakfast and

After School Clubs

Members of staff at Marlborough Primary School run our daily breakfast from 8:00am to 8:30am, this is a free service that is offered to children across the school. We are offering a variety of different food and drink options such as, freshly made toast and various cereal options, drinks included are water, milk and apple/orange juice.

Children have the opportunity, not only to have a healthy breakfast, but also the chance to participate in some fun activities in the hall, such as table tennis, Lego building, competitive games of connect-4 and also have the chance to go outside on to the playground to have some fresh air and take part in some of our most desired sporting activities, football, basketball and athletics are a few of the best options that the children request. Children can ask for other sports that they would like to take part in.

The club itself is a great way to start the day here at Marlborough Primary School, as it prepares the children physically and mentally prepared for the day ahead of them. Opportunities for places are presented towards families who live further away from school, and also to others families who start work early on the morning.

The overall aim of the Breakfast Club is to provide children with the perfect start to the school day, with staff engaging with children, with staff always showing a big smile and a very warm welcome upon the children's arrival.

For more information regarding our Breakfast Club and places, please contact the school's Main Office.

 After School Clubs

Here at Marlborough Primary School we are able to offer a variety of different After School Clubs, running on a daily basis from Monday through to Thursday, from 3:15pm to 4:25pm. The clubs themselves are chosen by members of staff but are also selected through the use of "Pupil Voice" where we take the children's requests in to consideration. The activities that are chosen can also be based on a competitive nature, if there is a "Leigh Trust, Your School Games or Panathlon" competition during the term, then the After School Clubs can be based on those competitions, allowed the children to prepare on a competitive sporting level.

Thursday Years 5 and 6 Handball

Monday

Monday's After School Club: This is organised for KS1, years 1 & 2. The activities themselves will ease children into a sporting environment, allowing the children to take part in different sports that are taught within school, but also other sports to which may not be taught during PE lessons. Clubs such as Multi-Skills, Gymnastics and Ball Games are highly enjoyed by the pupils, with the sports coaches joining in with the activities, making the children laugh and smile throughout the sessions.

Tuesday

Tuesday's After School Club: This is organised for Lower KS2, years 3 & 4. These are the activities that are set up for children who request or require further support on a chosen sport, the sport itself may be an activity that is being taught to the pupils during the course of the school term. The Clubs that are organised for the children can also be organised for pupils who wish to excel further with a chosen activity, such as Football, Cricket or Basketball, with this, it gives the children the opportunity to push further with their knowledge of their chosen sport, allowing them to possibly take part in the sport outside of school, with an external sports club. The clubs are also set up based on the competition that may have been selected for that term, such as a "Leigh Trust Dodgeball" competition.

Wednesday

Wednesday's After School Club: This is organised and run by our Sports Coach from Birmingham City Football Club. The coach himself selects a sport to which the children enjoy, allowing them to participate that they would like to improve in such as Tag Rugby, Handball and Hockey. Such sports that are taught during school time, but the type of sports that may not be as popular outside of school. The coach works close with the pupils who attend, setting each individual a set target and/or goal for them to achieve prior to the end of term, by where at which point, the sport will be changed. Pupils from KS2 can attend this After School Club.

Thursday

Thursday's After School Club: This is organised for pupils from higher KS2, years 5 & 6. As these pupils are higher within the school, the activities may vary, as we are preparing year 6 to venture in to KS3 in Secondary School, we look at various sports to which may be taught at the next stage of their educational experience, such as Netball, Badminton, Rounders. Pupils are also given the opportunity to chose their After School club at the start of the school term, through the use of "Pupil Voice". Pupils will be given several options of a sport that can be organised for them, once the pupils have selected the club that they would prefer, the sport with the highest response will be selected, however for the pupils that did not have their chosen club selected, this will be allocated a future After School Club. The club can also be based on a competitive sense, being chosen depending on the selected "Leigh Trust" sports competition during the course of that half term. Staff will work closely with the pupils to improve on their sporting abilities within the clubs, as this will give them a better opportunity to use these skills within external sports clubs outside of school.

 Friday

On a Friday afternoon we have a fantastic experience for some of our children with our Cheerleading club. An experienced coach attends our school and works with a group of our wonderful children to improve on their dancing capabilities, this is in the form of cheerleading. The children have the opportunity to participate in creating their own sequences and routines with the use of dance and music, adding the use of pom poms, this gives the children a chance to learn thruogh the use of rythmic movement. The children have a brilliant time within the one hour that is allocated to them and are already planning a final routine towards the end of term.
